In order to better prepare for the 2023 high school graduation exam, at this time, many high schools are actively reviewing their 12th grade students, so that they can achieve the best results in the exam.
In the 2022-2023 school year, Vu Le High School (Bac Son District, Lang Son) has 183 students in class 12. To help 12th grade students achieve the best results in the 2023 high school leaving exam, since t the beginning of the school year, school leadership actively developed a review plan, as well as selecting experienced and qualified teachers to teach and assess the children.
In the teaching and revision process, the school regularly organizes tests and assessments to familiarize students with the exam; Teachers always motivate and encourage students to learn. Based on the results of tests and evaluations, the school grades students and meets with professional groups to promptly develop and modify teaching methods according to each child’s ability.
According to a survey of students’ enrollment aspirations, in this year’s graduation examination, Vu Le High School had 17 students taking the natural science test, and the rest were enrolled in the social science joint examination. Mr. Vu Tri Hao said that students choose the Social Science complex more because the subjects in this group will be easier to get enough grades to pass graduation than the subjects in the Natural Science complex.
The wide variation in the selection of such pooled tests creates difficulties for schools in ordering instruction and revising teacher schedules. Because the number of professors who study by subject is not compatible with the number of candidates who want to study and register for the combined exam.
Specifically, for Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects, the school has 3 teachers/subject. As for history and geography, the school has only one subject/teacher.
This leads to the situation that, when entering the peak period to focus on exam preparation, Vu Le High School will find it difficult to arrange the subject schedule and teachers. Some professors who teach natural science groups have an empty teaching schedule and the professor’s calendar is for history
In recent years, the promotion of the application of information technology and digital transformation in some stages of the entrance exam, mainly the online application for the entrance exam, has brought many benefits to students, schools and society as a whole.
However, for students in mountainous areas, this business still presents some difficulties due to lack of exposure to information technologies, poor network connection, etc.
In order to overcome problems, help students practice basic knowledge of information technology, and facilitate the implementation of high school graduation exam steps, Vu Le High School combines 5% online teaching. Teachers also actively apply information technology to test and evaluate student task performance.
In addition, the school also built several virtual classrooms for students to complete assignments and then teachers grade them online.
Sharing about the revision process for Grade 12 students, Professor Le Tran Dieu Thu, Professor of Dual Degree Literature (High School and Vocational High School) at Urban Construction College Gia Lam District, Hanoi, said:
“Students are expected to complete our Grade 12 Literature program by mid-April. Therefore, starting in April, I will be assisting students from basic to advanced levels and very dense geography when I have to teach in the mornings and afternoons.
In addition, there is a combination of core knowledge review based on adherence to the current grade 12 literature book program and the official exam matrix in 2022 for the Ministry of Education and Training.
Students’ level of consciousness is uneven, so based on the actual ability and needs of each student, Ms. Lee Tran Du Thu Tho will design the appropriate review topics.
Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training also said that the high school leaving exam in 2023 will remain basically the same as in 2022, but will reasonably increase some application-related content. Practice in some subjects is gradually moving towards the direction of assessing skills in accordance with the goals and requirements Development of Student Competence and Quality for the 2018 General Education Program.
So, to help students meet this factor instead of just teaching students knowledge, Ms. Le Tran Dieu Thuo also focuses on teaching students practical skills and applications to be able to perform well on issues related to reading comprehension, social discourse, and essay literature.
Additionally, to help students get clear guidance, Ms. Le Tran Du Thu Tho suggests a review schedule for them, specifically as follows:
First, define your specific goals and break them down into practice sections.
second, review “missing” knowledge (often reading comprehension theory and focus on background knowledge of works); Good understanding of the knowledge of each class (horizontal review); Organization of knowledge by theme and subject (vertical review).
Third, she translates the core knowledge of each lesson to facilitate review, but also avoid omitting knowledge.
Fourth: Practice writing sentences, paragraphs, and writing full sentences. The same topic, rewrite it several times, then increase the question requirements and difficulty for deeper entrenchment and memory.
Fifth, practice the questions to familiarize yourself with the psychology of the exam; Ask at least 30 questions before entering the official exam. “Currently, based on the 2023 demonstration exam just announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, I will divide the review subjects among the students,” said Professor Le Tran Dieu Tho.
